Try Me! Mosaic Art - Design and Build (in studio)

Workhouse Arts Center room 710

Create a mosaic artwork for interior display using stained glass.  Learn mosaic basics including glass cutting

with nippers, creating visual flow, and proper gluing technique.  It is recommended to follow up with Try Me! Mosaic Art - Grout and Finish

although this is not required.  A materials fee of $35 is payable to the instructor at the beginning of class.  

We will break for 30 minutes for lunch.  All skill levels are welcome.  

Tuition $140 (min 7 max 16)

Grout and finish your project from Try Me! Mosaic Art Design and Build workshop or bring in your own mosaic projects from home. Wearing a required during this class because of the use of powders. Easy Mosaic Pavers Workshop (studio)

Art League School Torpedo Factory Madison Street Annex, Community Room

Discover your favorite mosaic by creating decorative pavers suitable for outdoor display using four different mosaic methods.  Day one involves creating Materials fee of $50 due to instructor by first day of workshop.  We will break for lunch for 30 minutes.  Tuition $175.

Stained Glass Suncatcher 404127 (two days) 18+

Create beautiful suncatcher while learning the basics of the tiffany method of creating stained glass art including glass cutting and soldering.jewelry using your own fine porcelain or what the instructor provides.  All supplies are included in the class fee. $85(R)/$68(R55+)/$170(NR)*

Mosaics are one of the original art forms, and pieces can be made to last for centuries. Choose from among several exciting projects, from beginner through expert, or bring your own unique project (with instructor approval). Sufficient tools, supplies and materials are included in the class fee to complete one beginner or intermediate project. $200(R)/$160(R55+)/$325(NR)*

Fused Glass 405163 (three weeks) 18+

Items similar to Colorful mosaic fused glass dish on EtsyReston Community Center, Hunters Woods Location, Woodshop (small class size)

Create a beautiful, slumped fused glass dish, jewelry, and more. We will work with 96 and 96 COE compatible fusing glass in many forms including sheet glass, stringers, confetti, and frit. Artworks will be fired after all three classes are completed. (three weeks) $165(R)/$132(R55+)/$285(NR)*

Mosaic Art - Beginner to Expert (studio class)

Art League School Torpedo Factory Madison Street Annex, Community Room

Build a strong foundation in the ancient art form of mosaics using modern tools and materials. Learn to cut glass, properly adhere your tesserae, and finish your work for the best results. Planning, design, selection of materials, and use of hand tools will be covered. Fabrication techniques and tricks of the trade will be shared. Returning students may work on a project of their choice with instructor approval.  A materials fee of $95 is payable to the instructor by the first class. Tuition $255

Reston Community Center, Hunters Woods Location, Woodshop (small class size)

Create beautiful mosaic jewelry including pendants, earrings, or rings in a base of copper brass or silver plate. Materials include real millefiori, filato, 24k gold smalti, shells, vintage rhinestones and more. All supplies are included in the class fee. No grout will be used, and glass cutting is optional. $85(R)/$68(R55+)/$160(NR)*

Open Glass Studio 4C0010-xx (one day)

Reston Community Center, Hunters Woods Location, Woodshop (limited seating)

This is not a substitute for classes, but an opportunity for independent work with a glass instructor on staff.  Fee is $10 Resident / $20 Non-Resident per day (Includes use of tools, does not include supplies or kiln firing).  Dates are the first and third Sundays of the month year-round with few exceptions.  Available reservations posted the 25th of the previous month for Reston residents and posted on the 1st of the month for non-residents.  If you have any difficulty with registration, please fill out contact form and let me know. 12:30 – 4:30 p.m. EST
