Micro Mosaic Jewelry (studio workshop)

Create beautiful modern and traditional micro mosaic jewelry using a variety of methods and materials. Mediums include micro tiles from Türkiye and Morocco, vintage rhinestones, Paua abalone from New Zealand, Italian filato, millefiori and smalti and more. You can expect to make three to five pieces of jewelry. A materials fee of $95 is due to the instructor by the first day of class.

Build a strong foundation in the ancient art form of mosaics using modern tools and materials. Learn to cut glass, properly adhere your tesserae, and finish your work for the best results. Planning, design, selection of materials, and use of hand tools will be covered. Fabrication techniques and tricks of the trade will be shared. Returning students may work on a project of their choice with instructor approval. A materials fee of $95 is payable to the instructor by the first class. Tuition $255

Create richly pattered mosaics inspired by the vibrant patchwork textiles of Rajasthan and Gujarat, India. Using specialty glass, crystal and beads, participants will explore color, texture and design to create striking works of art. Basic mosaic experience is helpful but not required. All supplies included.

Create a small, illuminated mosaic panel using a real‑glass picture frame as your support. Working directly on glass, students explore color, transparency, and spacing to build compositions activated by light. Instruction covers cutting, clear‑adhesive techniques, and designing for transmitted color. Materials fee of $50 payable to instructor.

Mosaic Garden Project (studio workshop) NEW!
Art League School (800 Slaters Lane, Alexandria)
Create a durable outdoor mosaic on a concrete, stone, or porcelain base using colored thinset mortar with glass, stone, metal, or found materials. Learn tinting, texture, and composition for garden environments. A $50 materials fee is due to the instructor before class, and students should bring concrete, stone, or porcelain base approved by the instructor.
